Another Great Meal
Maybe I'll just turn this into a cooking blog... Last nights meal (again, just a hodgepodge of ideas thrown around at breakfast. This is one is an easy one, but tasty. Grilled chicken, pounded thin to allow for easy cooking and a dry rub seasoning of your choice, carmelized onions, lettuce, tomato, bacon, metled swiss cheese on olive oil brushed ciabatta roll. Add a seasoned mayo, with a side of sweet potato fries and you have a quick easy dinner. Total prep and cooking time was about 35 minutes. *Notice the crossoword puzzle? Thats a whole nother blog entry*

Steamed Clean
Did you ever wonder what kind of filth you are sitting in when you sit down on say, a cloth chair? The boys at work have been talking about steam cleaning the furniture for quite a while now. So yesterday I brought the steam cleaner in and set it loose on the furniture. This is what the water looked like after 2 chairs. The couch was by far the grossest, but I didn't have time to take a picture since we had 5 car accidents, including 2 rollovers. So, the next time you sit down on some cloth furniture, just think about what could be hiding within those fibers!

For All of My Jewish Friends
Decided to pay tribute to the city that pays me my $$
Thanks to Jack's Deli for providing the means to make this meal possible!

Random
Heard a good joke from an 65 year old patient we took in the other day...
Q: Have you ever heard of an Australian Kiss?
A: Its like a French kiss, only "down under"

Lookin for New Food Ideas
At the beginning of the year, I made it my goal to get more involved in the cooking and preparation of food at the fire station. I've always loved just coming up with ideas and having other people cook them and see how they turned out. The problem with that is, it never quite turns out the way I'd hoped it would. So now I am gonna have to start cooking. Which is what I did the other night. I started out with a simple steak sandwich from Bon Appetite. As it usually goes at the fire station, we take a simple dish like that and well... basically change the whole thing. The end result the other night was a homemade panini sandwich that was out of this world. I took some suggestions of toppings from the peanut gallery, and here is what we created

Here's what you need to make this wonderful, delectable treat:
Hearty Italian bread, focaccia, ciabatta, or other thick cut of bread
Flank steak pan cooked to medium rare and thinly sliced
Crispy French fries
Coleslaw
Sauteed Mushrooms
Fried egg, cooked hard
Stack it all together and attempt to eat
*As you can see, the possibilities are endless. This would be fantastic with chicken, steak, or pork and just about any other toppings you can imagine*
We've come up with some great recipes, as we get more, I will post them, hopefully with pictures. Our shift has been great this year, only hope we can keep it going throughout 2010!
Get the Funk Out
No more Funk! Baseball has begun and its been really good so far. I am really looking forward to the season. Right now just pitchers and catchers, while the rest of the team throws and conditions. If I had to go through a conditioning program like this when I was in HS, maybe my shoulder wouldn't be as F'd up as it is. Way too early to determine any kind of talent level, but I have some good depth at pitcher, which is always a plus at the JV level. More updates about baseball to follow, until then, just looking forward to March 27th... Spring trip to Myrtle Beach
