Liars!
Seriously... whoever said that baby poop doesn't smell for a couple of months is a liar! And for those of you who do not know what breastfed newborn poop looks like... think of a nice ground deli mustard. Yep, kinda hard to think about a nice cold-cut sandwich and deli mustard now isn't it? Just be glad I didn't take a picture of it and post it.

More pics
Earlier today after I got done feeding him, he fell asleep, which was no big surprise. Kristine was sitting on the other side of the couch and we both heard a giggle. I looked down and he was smiling. He did this 3 different times in about 5 minutes, a giggle paired with a smile. Now, I know babies can't smile purposefully, its just a movement of their faces. But, I also know that they can dream... so how did he pair 3 straight giggles with smiles? I find it fascinating.

8 Days- Wow
I can't believe its already been over a week. It took him about 4 days, but he is starting to figure out that he is supposed to be awake during the day and asleep at night. Last night he slept from about 10-1:30, ate, got changed and fell back asleep at 2ish. He didn't wake up until 5:30, where he ate, got changed, and fell back asleep until about 8:45. Kristine and I also tried a little different routine last night. She has anything until 3 am, then I take the crucial 3am-6am timeslot. Since he slept so well last night, it helped us recover a little. Then she got up with him at 9 and they had his first official photo shoot with her. These pictures posted are from my cell phone, not her photo shoot... she is much better than that! For more picture of little nugget, check out her blog http://www.cribrock.blogspot.com. Hers are all taken with a real camera and are much nicer than the ones I self shoot with my cell phone.

Day 6- I fear the search plane will never find us
Ok, ok, I know its not as easy as I made it seem... but it is definitely awesome. Kristine has been a trooper in the middle of the night, letting me sleep for a few hours, then I return the favor in the early morning. It'll be a lot easier once he can start drinking out of bottles, then I can feed him in the middle of the night. Had his first doctor's appt this morning, he passed with flying colors. He is back to 7 lbs 1/2 oz and everything looks exactly like it should. His umbilical cord stub is still hanging on, doc said maybe another week (after he tried pulling it off). Circumcision went swimmingly, no more vaseline on his junk when we change him! Following in dad's footsteps, his digestive system works just fine, and his farts are ones that everyone can appreciate. Unlike dad, however, most of his farts are slightly more productive than just the odor. Hey, at least we know exactly when he needs changed! More pics coming soon, hopefully one of this huge smile he has been showing off accidentally

Piece of Cake...
Sleeps til he's hungry, eats til he's sleepy, gets changed somewhere in between. REPEAT. This parenting thing is a breeze.

HEY EVERYONE!
Thought I would put a few more pictures on before he wakes up. This first picture is what he looks like right now. He is really a handsome little guy. I was amazed Tuesday when he came out... he was so clean, not all bloody and weird looking like the ones I saw in medic school and on TV. Kristine is in getting some rest, so we are sitting out in the living room watching some NCAA basketball and listening to some Five Finger Death Punch. He woke up for a song by The Cult (don't know if he liked it or not), but its only a matter of time before he figures out his pacifier is not providing any nourishment. So... I will get these pictures up really quickly so Molly, Riley, Grace and Alethea can see this handsome little stud.

I think he likes his new Bouncer

All wrapped up on the 1st night

The nurse getting ready to burp him. His eyes are blue-gray right now. Good sign he'll be a light eyed baby. His hair is so blonde too, its awesome! His eyebrows and eyelashes are so light, you can barely see them.
Welp, gotta go, he's starting to get fussy. See y'all soon!

MANY, MANY MORE PICS TO FOLLOW
I do have my first dad story, though (and I know this has happened to everyone, but it was still some good shit). Scott and Karen were here last night, and before leaving, Karen wanted to watch me change him. He had a big old dollop of chocolate pudding in there. As I was getting ready to wipe him, he just starting pooping all over again. Now, I always cover his little thing up, but since he just got circumcised, he hasn't taken a pee for us. Karen reminded me to cover his wiener (which I always do... except this time) he started pooping again... in large quantities. And sure enough, he decided to let loose for the first time... with some serious pressure. He peed all over the wall, the crib thingy and of course himself. I think he thought it was just as funny and decided poop some more. So, even though a valuable lesson was learned, I can guarantee that his dad will soon forget and it will happen again.

Dinner Tonight
So, a few guys showed up to work early tonight, which let me come home at 5:20. Since Kristine went shopping for me today, I had all my ingredients ready to go to make her dinner. The result... Pan-seared scallops on a cauliflower puree with tarragon snow peas and carrots. All washed down with a nice glass of Bushmills (can't have St. Patty's day without a little Irish Whiskey). I got it from Cooking Light and it turned out about as well as I could have hoped. The puree and veggies were easy, but I've never cooked scallops before, and the thought of ruining them (knowing how expensive they are) kept running through my mind. Luckily, they turned out perfectly and Kristine loved it. It would have been the perfect meal except I sliced my left thumb with my brand new stainless steel forever sharp knife. I felt it slide down my finger. Amazing how much blood there was. If I lived in the City of Beachwood, I definitely would have called the squad for that one! Anyway, here is the picture of dinner. Hope it helps this kid on his way out tonight!

What a Day...
So, Kristine and I had a nice little Sunday planned... Go to church, hang out all day, Miles Market, I was gonna cook her dinner, then we were going to the hospital for her to have the baby... ok, maybe that last part wasn't gonna happen, but wishful thinking. To my dismay I was awoken from my slumber at 6:20 am to tell me I'm supposed to be at Chagrin FD (oops, I was at Beachwood last night). Whole day ruined. So, instead of me surprising Kristine with a delicious meal, she had to go do all the shopping. At least I'll still be able to cook for her tonight, then we can go to the hospital.
I can't believe that in less than 6 days she is going to have this baby. The suspense is killing me. I'm so excited that I just can't hide it. And I'm about to lose control... but, I think I like it (yeah, yeah).
Talk to you all soon, the New Dad Chronicles are about to begin!

It is still snowing...
Yeah, mother nature dumped another foot of snow on the ground last night and today, whatever. As we were driving to the store on SR 306 (for those of you who don't know... forget it... anyone who reads this knows what driving on 306 is like). 45 MPH, big plow trucks, lots of snow, and who do we pass? A runner running in the middle of the snowstorm. Now, I am all for physical fitness, but it really pissed me off. And I will tell you why. If someone were to hit him, be it a plow truck or just an everyday driver, WHOSE FAULT IS IT? OURS! These people just don't realize that they are more of a hazard than the snow itself. We have to swerve around them, causing us to go left of center, through the slushy, slippery median and into oncoming traffic. I was really hoping a plow truck would come and just douse him in snow. Not hit him with the plow or injure him in any way... but just something that would let him know what an asshole he is.
On a side note, we ate at Alladin's today... freakin delicious. Greek Pitza and the Ali Baba Pitza. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other stuff

Totally Random
This might be the most random post of my life, but...
I think Brad Pitt might be my favorite actor of all time. I'm sitting here watching Inglorious Basterds and I keep thinking about how much I like him as an actor. Between Se7en, Fight Club, Oceans 11, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Troy, Snatch, Sleepers, and True Romance, he might be one of the most versatile actors of my generation. With that being said, I shall go to sleep.
I hope Kristine pops this kid out pretty soon. She is due in 12 days and I cannot wait to meet this little fella!

Not Dead Yet!
Hey everyone (all 3 of you who read this)... I PROMISE this blog is not dead. I have not had time to sleep, let alone sit down and update this blog. Between the 2 jobs and baseball starting back up, I have not had much of a chance to sit down. I actually cant wait for this little boy to be born so I have a chance to take off of work for a few weeks. I know that having a newborn baby is not exactly "resting", but you guys really have no idea. I already don't sleep at night, so it doesn't really matter. Just to be able to have an excuse to be in my own house, sleep in my own bed and not have to leave the house except to show this little guy off will be more than welcomed. I haven't had a nice break from work in a while, so this will be AWESOME. Plus, the baseball team will be in Myrtle Beach from March 26-April 2, which means I will be able to be home, with nothing to do but be with my gorgeous wife and our baby boy (as long as she pops him out before that)!!! Just like many times before, stick with me and I'll figure out how to keep this blog afloat!
