Was Friday the 13th always a "scary day" or was this not until the movies came out? Or...were the movies named that because there was something about Friday the 13th? If anyone has any input on this let me know, cause I'm curious... plus it'll help fill my little head with even more useless knowledge.
Maybe one of my older readers could shed some light on the topic. Anyway... Last year there were 2 Friday the 13ths and the CFFD had major fires on both of them, coincidence? Yeah, probably.
So... in honor of this day...Stay away from any creepy campgrounds with lakes, don't take a shower by yourself if you're on the run from some psycho, and whatever you do... avoid everyone you know named Jason.

I do not have the answer to the question that you pose, but I do have some other useless knowledge that you and other fellow followers of this blog may not have realized....Anytime there is a Friday the 13th in the month of February during a non-leap year, there will also be a Friday the 13th in the month of March. It happened this year and look out 2015! On a somewhat related note, this stat reminds me of the movie 'Little Big League' where announcer John Gordon makes totally ridiculous stats about the batters (i.e He's batting .300 in domed-stadiums when facing left handed pitchers for the first time in the last month of the season, so this at-bat should work out well for him). Cracks me up.
I would like one of your next posts to be your top 5 movies of all time with just a very short blurb about why you in particular feel so. This topic is often discussed amongst colleagues and friends and I would be interested in hearing the thoughts from you and your followers. I will throw out five to start (without explanation): Field of Dreams, Gladiator, Princess Bride, The Rock, and The Dark Knight.

Too long to give a synopsis, but here is the website.
I could guess three of yours,Stl.
There are a bunch of great movies I could name, but several of them would include my main man, Clint Eastwood.
Also... when in doubt... Wikipedia
From Hagie:
Friday the 13th is an ancient fear. Started with Viking myth. It traces the fear of 13 to a Norse myth about 12 gods having a dinner party at Valhalla, their heaven. In walked the uninvited 13th guest, the mischievous Loki. Once there, Loki arranged for Hoder, the blind god of darkness, to shoot Balder the Beautiful, the god of joy and gladness, with a mistletoe-tipped arrow.
"Balder died and the whole Earth got dark. The whole Earth mourned. It was a bad, unlucky day
